What Readers are saying:

"What an extraordinary book! Staggeringly well done…. Best single synthesis I have ever read in this emerging field of practice, as you integrate legacy planning, financial planning, gift planning, family business planning, and enlightened family governance. I have kept your materials for years back in a file with the best of the best. Now, in your book you have gone even further. I hope you get a deep sense of achievement. It can be lonely be so far out in front. Maybe you will live to see your book helping the rest of us catch up, a step or two.
Deep bow to you,"

"Tim is one of the true geniuses in the financial services business. His ability to take complex tax strategies and weave them together into a comprehensive and global plan is nothing short of brilliant. Anyone who takes the time to read this book and digest the common sense and practical approach to planning will benefit beyond measure. Tim and his staff are remarkable communicators and have designed many plans for families throughout the years. I am confident these plans are all solid legally, ethically and morally. The only question anyone has to answer is whether or not they are committed to doing the planning needed to pass their wealth on to future generations."

"In a world where professionals thrive on creating personal fiefdoms and playing hide the ball, Tim succinctly states the case for clients to take control and demand collaborative efforts. Planning teams that focus on realizing relational ideals with technical excellence can enjoy a happy ending: lowered taxes."

"Tim Voorhees has given those of us in the planning profession a wonderful treatise that is more than just a dry, boring listing of various tools to consider using for our high net worth, and ultra high net worth clients. This is the "why behind the what" that goes into it. It takes the planner (and client) inside the process as to "why does this matter?" He helps the client realize the importance - and opportunity - of the legacy they will leave behind ... that is more than just about a few more dollars and cents. It is technical, to be sure, but it addresses the issues "below the surface" that are often missed by the traditional planner.

Thank you, Tim, for this outstanding resource. A book like this does not happen by accident, but through years of careful (and artful) planning, design and battle-testing in the field. Great job! "

"Tim Voorhees' book show how professionals handle complex problems requiring sophisticated solutions, which are absolutely necessary for many of today's most affluent families and their businesses! He has the ability to take the abstract and break it down in a very granular order helping the individuals he is working with view their complex, and often cluttered, financial landscape in a very clear and simple fashion! Tim's attention to detail is second to none, and his team of professionals that support his efforts are some of the finest in the industry! I've always felt that when something absolutely needs to get done, and it absolutely needs the best care, there's no better choice in my opinion then using the process described in Tim's books. His values, his expertise, his professionalism and his commitment to excellence are all communicated in a way that puts his book at the top of the pyramid!"

"RE: Your new Book: WOW!! FABULOUS!!

You are the most creative attorney I know. You understand the soft issues, but also the technical so that a comprehensive plan can be developed.

This book should be required reading before any advisor makes recommendations to a family regarding their LEGACY planning. Your graphics do a MASTERFUL job of linking the ideas and concepts into understandable terms! This is the best "connecting" that I've ever seen an attorney put together! From the Cover right through each chapter, the imagery was outstanding! Some of the graphics are VERY complex, but you are also covering some complex issues, so they are appropriate.

You are coming from the legal world and so there is defense of concepts and strategies throughout; however, a family needs to know that the attorney is versed in all these issues to feel real comfortable, and you certainly make the case for trust and competence. This book should be required reading before a professional designation is obtained in the philanthropic planning field.

I am also proud to see how you're working with another "Master" in Dave Holaday to explain some of the strategies in simpler terms.

To summarize, I am truly impressed with this masterpiece! I know it took a long time to put together, but I believe it will last long after your personal career!"

"When it comes to asset protection and comprehensive tax reduction strategies, look no further. During my 16 years of high net worth planning for the rich and not so famous, rare is the occasion a law firm can deliver time-tested structures and strategies to actually accomplish the client's desired goal of maximum wealth control. The books by Mr. Tim Voorhees, Esq. deliver the types of tools to help clients do more than benefit themselves, but society as well. Anything published by Tim is a must read. Zero Tax Planning is a simple but powerful concept that integrates well-established non-charitable tools (such as insurance, LLCs, low-interest notes, and irrevocable trusts) with common charitable tools (such as gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, private foundations, pooled income funds, etc.) to help clients reduce taxes while increasing potential benefits for family and favorite charities. Most clients can zero-out estate, gift and GST taxes through the appropriate leveraging of standard estate and gift tax exemptions. Other charitable and business income tax strategies can be used to zero-out taxes on capital gains income and/or the portion of their income not needed for lifestyle expenses. It is not difficult to zero-out taxes simply by giving wealth to charity. Amazing opportunities arise, however, when the tax benefits of statutory charitable tools are combined with the tax benefits of non-charitable instruments described in the Internal Revenue Code. Family Office Law LLP ("FOL") attorneys and their affiliates do not recommend strategies that lack substantial legal authority.
